Wow! It is hard to believe this is our last blog for the class! What was new about the information in module 6 was the concept of plagiarism as discussed in the Podcast with Judge Posner. It was interesting to consider the notion that ideas will have a time limit for originality. It made me think of the the "Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon" - where there is a societal shift in consciousness that shifts people (or monkeys in this case) to a new or different level of thinking. Certainly, this idea is considered paranormal by most and discredited. However, in the Podcast the concept that ideas have a time limit - or a shift where they become more common knowledge - was an interesting thought especially in light of the discussion on plagiarism. Having been taught the strict standards of crediting information appropriately it was interesting that at some point an idea or the written word anyway - would have an expiration date. But it made sense to me. Often it seems ideas may feel familiar. Maybe that is why history tends to repeat itself.
I really enjoyed this class! Access to the amazing information has opened my eyes to a whole new world that definitely did not feel familiar. I am so fortunate to have had this experience:) Thanks!
